Karma to Burn meets Big Business....

Immediate impression: sludgier version of Karma to Burn. Instant favorite. Check out the Swamp's previous post on this band, then give "Cup Weekend Murders" and "Eavesdropper" a listen.

From Metal Forge: "The opening track 'Cup Weekend Murders' (Which is also the shortest at three and a half minutes) is perhaps the best example of what the band has to offer on the album, with a sound that's somewhat similar to what rock behemoth Karma To Burn were producing back in their heyday. Toby's massive riffs are quite literally killer in both their power and their impact, while Matthews' drumming is totally rock solid, with just the odd fill here and there being thrown in to keep the mix interesting.
The mid-paced 'The Lakeshore Strangler' is a definite stand out with the wall of feedback behind the huge riffing adding an impossible weight to the two piece outfit, while on the slower 'Hanging Rope', the pair focus more on the subtle textures created by Toby's output rather than relying on sheer volume.
The twelve minute epic 'Eavesdropper' is certainly one of the more scattered compositions on the album, with the mood constantly moving from slow heavy moments and big rocking passages, before finishing up with some experimental noise effects toward the tail end.
Running a fraction shorter than the previous track (At ten minutes long), 'Rolling Implements' is another somewhat experimental track that covers a lot of different moods and feels, with shades of hypnotic psychedelic-like grooves making up the bulk of the middle region of the track, while the closing track 'Pagoda' once again returns to the riff orientated territory of the opener.
Without the aid of a vocalist, and armed with only two instruments, Hotel Wrecking City Traders are still able to produce an album that's not only memorable, but also one that rocks in huge way!"
